Reminds me of sunday

Sunday is a day to wind down, a day to picnic or sleep in, a day of not doing much exercise, to just take it slow. Perhaps a boozey lunch with a nice view in the salty air, a morning at the French bakery, a bake at kiddies corner, or a bushwalk around the heads, maybe a nanna nap with your lover. ‘Reminds me of Sunday’ is a series of works I have been working on for the last three years. I present the simple pleasures in life, the moments that give me joy. Nostalgic trips along the east coast of Australia and the natural wonders of home right on my doorstep. It’s a collection I have grown with, felt, smelt and seen with my own eyes. None of these paintings are reproduced from photographs, they’re captured in my memory bank and immerse onto canvas with the same emotions and nostalgia I found when seeing them for the first time. My mind wanders and I allow my imagination to take the steering wheel, recreating the beauty I’ve found in all mediums - but through my eyes, unchanged from when I was a boy.
